Please visit the new page to apply.
United Trhough HOPE works with those with special needs in grades K-12th and young adult too! The meetups UTH is looking for volunteers for can be found at this link. https://www.unitedthroughhope.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/Snapshot-PDF-of-Summer-2019-Meetup-Events.pdf
These are stand alone meetups meaning that a UTH member picks the ones they want to attend. Volunteers are considered "staff" who assist in redirection, allowing members to take a moment to calm down, extensive supervision, etc. They allow the UTH members to more easily gain social exposure in various settings (at our buildings or out in the community). A volunteer staff can assist at more than one meetup which is preferred so they get to know the UTH members better. All will gain training before starting.
Be aware that there is a two week deadline normally assigned before a particular event/meetup so we can properly train you (online curriculum).
You may be a teenager to volunteer but teens will primarily assist with K-5th so they are better respected. Those volunteering should not be "wall flowers" they will need to be independent thinkers, problem solvers, and able to easily take direction and notice their surroundings. They will need to be perceived as someone who is in authority, not a member's buddy as we do not want any confusion to take place when they are redirected.

Description
United Through H.O.P.E., Inc. is a 501c3 nonprofit organization started in 2012. Both Denton and Frisco locations are in renovated homes which highlight our emphasis on a naturalistic atmosphere where real life, naturalistic opportunities can unfold.
The staff at United Through H.O.P.E., Inc. strongly believes that no one raises their self, rather it takes a community of interested, imaginative, caring, and hopeful individuals to reach one's fullest potential.
All of our programs are designed to foster self-confidence, self-esteem, and a sense of belonging and empowerment.
All of our programs are meant to be fun and age and/or developmentally appropriate. As learning is supposed to be engaging.
Each of our programs are meant to be non-exclusionary so anyone can participate. To be in our programs you do NOT have to be diagnosed, just have a social need. We practice inclusion so those with an identified issue or disability (such as AD/HD, Aspergers, autism, LD, intellectual or physical disability, anxiety, selective mutism, being bullied, feel left out, etc.) can participate fully.
All of our programs are mixed age, gender, race, grade, challenges, etc. to foster tolerance, acceptance, guidance, leadership, awareness, and empathy.
