Safe Harbor is seeking committed volunteers to assist with collecting in-kind donations for our annual Evergreens Benefit silent auction. The Evergreens Benefit is Safe Harbor’s biggest fundraising event of the year. It is attended annually by over 500 guests from across the state and helps to raise over $180,000 to support survivors of sexual and domestic violence. A signature element of Evergreens is the expansive silent auction, made up of around 250 gift baskets and individual items collected from community donors and businesses from across the state. The Evergreens silent auction contains something for everyone, with everything from unique dining experiences, concert and/or sports tickets, themed gift baskets, original artwork, autographed sports memorabilia, and more. In 2018, the silent auction generated over $35,000 in revenue to help fund Safe Harbor’s efforts to end the cycle of domestic and sexual violence.

Collecting all the donations that make up the silent auction is no small feat! We are looking for a team of dedicated volunteers to help solicit and collect donations from local businesses to fill up our auction. Safe Harbor will provide all the materials you will need to request and collect donations including:

  • List of all previous donors and businesses along with contact information,

  • Donation request/ask letter

  • Donation receipt

All you need to do is help us get the word out there and pick up donations when they are ready! Donations can be dropped off at our Outreach Center or can be picked up in bulk when you’ve collected them.

This volunteer role will be active primarily from June through October, but you are welcome to commit just as much time as you are able. If you enjoy getting out in your community, making connections, and helping make a huge difference for survivors of sexual and domestic violence, please consider joining this team!

Description

Safe Harbor Crisis Center is the first and ONLY domestic violence and rape crisis center in Davis County, UT. Safe Harbor Crisis Center opened its doors in 1997 and served more than 300 adults and children in the first year of operation. Since then our services continued to expand to meet survivor and community needs. Our free comprehensive, client-centered services now include: Emergency Protective Shelter; Domestic Violence Outreach Services; Diversity Program; Children’s Services; 24-Hour Crisis Response; Transitional Housing; Sexual Assault Services; Protective Order Assistance; and Community Outreach and Education. Plus, in 2015 we launched an Economic Empowerment Program helps low-income domestic violence survivors with dependent children with job preparedness and work retention. We could not function without volunteers, who donated over 5,000 hours in the last year. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities and hope you will join our team in ending violence in the community.
