EVENTS COORDINATOR POSITION DESCRIPTION

Surfrider's San Mateo County (SMC) chapter is looking for an Events Coordinator for our public events to connect with volunteers and donors. This is a great opportunity for someone who is environmentally-minded to work with a 20+ year old Surfrider Chapter locally, our passionate program leads and partners on existing events and dream up new ones. To host or be part of one a quarter and on an ad hoc basis.

Here’s what we need you to do:

• Manage and organize Surfrider SMC chapter events
• Manage external event requests, and in collaboration with other leads determine Surfrider SMC’s involvement
• Identify and help manage event budgets
• Delegate duties to respective volunteers according to their capabilities
• Coordinate with all program leads involved in the execution of the event, as well as any outside partners and vendors
• Check inventory before the event
• Provide event details to the communications team to ensure that promotional materials are created and distributed well in advance of the event (e.g., social media, posters, newsletters, etc..)
• Manage event set up, tear down and follow-ups
• Track event key performance areas and identify items to work on for future events

Skills that would be helpful:

• Attention to detail & good communication skills
• Creative and interested in furthering the work of our local Surfrider chapter
• Nonprofit experience
• Self-motivated and collaborative
• Outgoing, proactive, and addicted to fun
• Technical experience, especially with Google Suite & MS Office
