FINANCE ACCOUNTING VIRTUAL INTERNSHIP

Intern Program Overview:

​ The Finance Accounting Internship Program is a 6 months internship that will introduce you to how our program functions in a non-profit organization. Our goal for interns is to have the opportunity to build upon their academic foundation - specifically technical skills, industry knowledge and familiarity with a non-profit environment - while pursuing their career based on their interests and background.

Finance Accounting Intern’s focus is to develop experience while working on daily tasks relating to Financial Planning and Analysis as well as Accounting. The intern will work with the Executive team and Accountants to prepare presentations, proposals, financial analysis and other projects that will provide insight and support to the organization’s decision making process. The intern will aid I’RAISE to adhere to its yearly strategic goals.

A Day in the Life of Finance Accounting Intern:

As a Finance Accounting Intern, you will be placed on one team where your primary responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

• Communicates monthly updates of current funding impacts.
• Engages city council and elected officials to attend yearly events and to ensure continued partnership.
• Assists in budget management.
• Aids the organization in identifying potential new foundation and corporate sponsors whose mission aligns with that of the agency
• May be asked to help schedule meetings with our funders
• Prepares sponsor and donor packages.
• Assists in the preparation and development of financial reports.
• Learn and become proficient with various internal software systems
• Will gain exposure to non profit fund procurement, auditing process and financial records
• Assist with and provide suggestions for the creation of automated processes to drive efficiencies and improve performance
• Assist team with special projects/ad hoc projects related to finance on an as needed basis

Qualifications:

• Candidates are required to be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree from an accredited college or university.
• Common areas of study included but are not limited to: Finance or Accounting, Business Administration, Technology, or related field
• 3.0 minimum GPA preferred
• Candidates should possess a high level of intellectual curiosity, a drive for operational excellence and a commitment to achieving sustainable results.
• Additionally, students should hold strong academic and technical skills in Google Suite as well as show proficiencies in leadership, teamwork, problem solving and analytical skills, verbal and written communication and professionalism.
• Proficiency with all Google Suite software packages; Google Drive; and efficient use of the Internet
• Adept with Instagram, Facebook and other social media platforms
