Chess Contender
ORGANIZATION: Accord
Please visit the new page to apply.
Objective: Visit to play chess with someone who lives in one of our Adult Foster Care (AFC) homes and loves the game but doesn’t have enough players to challenge them. The house is located in Minnetonka, MN.
Responsibilities:
- Play a game or two of chess at the AFC home that the person lives in.
- An introductory meeting will take place at the AFC, prior to your first game, so the person may meet you ahead of time. Our Volunteer Coordinator will facilitate the meeting and work with you to set up game times if you both want to move forward to play chess together.
- Once times are scheduled, we ask that you call the house every time, before you leave home, to get confirmation that the game is on. If you do not receive confirmation from the person or house staff, then you may consider the activity cancelled for that day.

Mission Statement
As listeners, learners and leaders, we will stand with and support people with disabilities in their communities as they pursue their personal dreams and goals.
Description
We're here to help people cope with the issues surrounding social injustice, low income, aging, and homelessness -- and, in doing so, to help them live their greatest lives.
Since 1971, we've been meeting people where they are and bringing them what they need to live as independently, creatively, and fully as possible. We offer a variety of services and supports, which have all been developed as a result of listening to and understanding the needs of the people we serve, their loved ones and their communities.
