Volunteer Shoppers

Transform empty rooms into homes by becoming a volunteer shopper at NW Furniture Bank! Shoppers work in pairs to guide client families through our shopping floor to help them pick out furniture and housewares. Shifts available Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday or Saturday. Get started by attending a short orientation & furniture bank tour.

Client families come to NW Furniture Bank by referral from over 200 agencies. Items are donated by furniture companies, hotels, restaurants and the community. NWFB is the consummate champion of "reuse". Through our programs we distribute - and diverted from the landfill - over 3 million pounds of furniture and mattresses annually.

The engine of NW Furniture Bank is our volunteers who fulfill our mission through their dedication, annually we have over 500 volunteers who give us some 10,000 hours of their time. Volunteers include retirees, civic groups, corporate teams, school and church clubs. Volunteers assist in the warehouse, sort incoming goods, take clients shopping, provide office support, do furniture assembly/repair and drive trucks.

About NW Furniture Bank

Location:

Mission Statement

NW Furniture Bank helps restore hope, dignity and stability in our community by recycling donated furniture to people in need.

Description

The NW Furniture Bank is the primary community resource for local agencies to assist clients with their furniture needs and offers a unique opportunity for our community to donate and volunteer.

NWFB works with local Tacoma/Pierce County agencies to provide a once in a lifetime gift of furniture to individuals and families in need. Clients are screened and referred by agency caseworkers, so furniture goes to those who are helping themselves reach self-sufficiency.

We serve victims of domestic abuse, people suffering loss from fire and natural disasters, foster homes and especially families coming from transitional housing who are trying to rebuild their lives.
