Love books? Volunteer with Friends of The SPL!
3 people are interested
Hello from the Friends of The Seattle Public Library! We are a volunteer-based non-profit, 501c3 organization, dedicated to supporting The Seattle Public Library. The Friends of The Seattle Public Library’s Book Sorting facility receives hundreds of thousands of books a year and we work hard year-round to process, sort, sell and give away a good majority of them.
If you love books, our sorting facility is the place for you!
We are currently looking for volunteers to help process books. Processing is usually done standing and requires lifting boxes and bins that can weigh up to 45 pounds.
For training purposes, we ask that volunteers be able to commit to one shift (the same shift) a week for a minimum of three months. We’re very flexible and understanding with appointments, surprises, and vacations and most of our volunteers choose to stay well past the 3-month mark.
Tuesday Morning 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Tuesday Evening 4:00 -7:00 p.m.
Thursday Afternoon 1:00 - 4:00 p.m.
Friday Morning 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Friday Afternoon 1:00 -4:00 p.m.
If you’re interested in one of these shifts, please contact Samantha at firstname.lastname@example.org to set up an orientation at our sorting facility. Here we will learn about you and you will learn about our organization. You will also see firsthand what you will be doing as a book sorter to determine we are the right fit.
No additional volunteer opportunities at this time.
We'll work with your schedule.
