ORGANIZATION: Bandar and Bhaaloo

  • 1 person is interested

Bandar and Bhaaloo is a recently launched 501(c)(3) non-profit. In order to grow responsibly, it is in need of an experienced bookkeeper or financial expert to help set up simple bookkeeping methodologies for all aspects of a small non-profit business - inventory control, people management, expenses and sales, and financial reporting. Selection of the best accounting software to utilize is an initial need. Once systems are in place, on-going assistance with tax reporting and preparation for board presentations would be possible (although not required for this first project).

Mission Statement

Bandar and Bhaaloo is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose mission is to provide funding for the high school education of impoverished girls in India. Its business model is to generate funds through the sale of one-of-a-kind soft sculpture animals, made of donated Indian saris and sewn by volunteers. Sold through low-cost channels and minimizing administrative costs, profits are optimized and directed to high impact, proven educational partners in India. High school education plays an important role in arming girls and women with the necessary knowledge, attitudes and skills to make qualitative improvements to their lives.

Description

Launched in 2018, Bandar and Bhaaloo has an ambitious plan to design, create and sell beautiful one-of-a-kind stuffed animals, bags and beaded necklaces in order to support the high school education of girls in India. Girls in India face a distinctive set of barriers to learning, especially when they reach post-primary levels of education. It takes about $350 to send a girl to high school for a year. Making and selling just 10 of our special items would fund a girl for one year! With volunteer sewers and donated saris, our costs are very low - thereby maximizing our profits. Volunteers will know where their efforts go - what schools and what girls are supported. Our ambition is to have 25 girls graduate from high school by 2025.
