ORGANIZATION: CAPITAL AREA HUMANE SOCIETY

Position Objective:

CAHS is seeking energetic and passionate volunteers to assist with the planning of the Walk for the Animals fundraising event on Saturday, October 5 at Fitzgerald Park in Grand Ledge, MI.

Responsibilities Include:

--Recruiting participants and teams
--Registering for the event as an individual or starting a team
--Volunteering the day of the event
--Attend monthly committee meetings
--Soliciting businesses for sponsorships, in-kind support, vendor tables, and prizes
--Promoting the event throughout the community
--Logistic/entertainment planning

Time Commitment:

--Attend three committee meetings (usually weeknights from 5:30-6:30 p.m.; there will be one in June, one in September, and one after the event in October)
--Participate in committee group emails providing updates in between the meeting dates.
--Total 5-10 hours per month; may increase the month of the event

Description

The Capital Area Humane Society is a non-profit organization that cares for over 10,000 animals annually. In 2016, we had a save rate of over 95%.


We are more than just an animal shelter. We offer traditional adoptions, as well as spay & neuter services for the public, obedience and behavioral programs, pet wellness programs, educational services for children including after-school programs and summer, winter, and spring camps, and a pet food bank.
