Volunteers are provided with initial training and ongoing support including supervision by a case supervisor and continuing education opportunities.

Time commitment is 10-15 hours a month with flexible hours.

Description

Our History:

In 1992, CASA Youth Advocates Inc. was formed, building on the work of volunteers supporting children in Delaware County that dated back to the 1970’s. In 2012, CASA added its Educational Decision Maker service to empower volunteers to help youth with special education needs make academic decisions. In 2015, CASA expanded to begin serving children and youth in Chester County. In 2019, CASA launched the Voices for Children Coalition in Delaware County to improve the safety net of services for children and families. In 2023, CASA joined several other organization in launching the Safer Schools Strong Neighborhoods collaborative project serving Chester, PA.

Our Model:

CASA is a volunteer driven organization providing best interest advocacy efforts to children involved in the child welfare and dependency court systems. Our volunteers advocate for safe and permanent homes for youth, close the gaps in service, and provide the supportive presence of a consistent, caring adult. Advocates are provided with extensive training and supported by a team of paid staff, to help ensure each volunteer has the knowledge, guidance and support needed to be successful in this volunteer role.
