Check-In Receptionist

Reports to: Office Representatives, Volunteer Coordinator, Clinic Manager

Position Function & Organizational Impact:

Volunteers in this position will provide a better customer service experience for clients as they arrive at the clinic, providing necessary admission paperwork and keeping an orderly waiting area.

Time Commitment and Location of Work:

  • Southern Pines Animal Shelter Spay and Neuter Clinic
  • Must commit to a minimum of one shift per week for 13 weeks.
  • There is one shift each day Monday through Thursday from 7:30 am to 10:30 am, and Friday 7:30 am to 10 am. Saturday features two shifts, 8 am to 10:30 am and 10:30 am to 1 pm.

Designated Work Area:

  • Lobby

Goals:

  • Greet clients upon arrival, providing all necessary admission paperwork, & ensuring they have a friendly, smooth check-in experience.
  • Complete some clerical duties related to admissions paperwork including; copying forms, filing charts, and preparing admission paperwork for the next day.
  • Complete daily appointment reminder calls, as well as daily post-operative check-up calls.
  • Work to maintain a tidy & clean waiting area, including sanitizing chairs and surfaces, sweeping, mopping, and cleaning the glass door before the end of each shift.

Core responsibilities:

  • Greet all guests with respect and courtesy.
  • Keep the waiting area clean and tidy
  • Assist with cleaning dishes and laundry

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Ability to follow specific instructions from staff
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds
  • Commitment to positively engage with Southern Pines visitors, volunteers, and staff
  • Commitment to the philosophy of Southern Pines practices and policies
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to volunteer for this position
  • Track and input hours into Victouch
  • Regular access to personal email to receive updates

Our mission is to provide humane shelter for homeless and lost cats and dogs, provide affordable spay/neuter and healthy pet services, encourage adoptions and educate the community about responsible pet ownership.

Description

We are a 501 c(3) non-profit Spay & Neuter Clinic that offers low-cost spay/neuter services to the community. In addition to providing spay/neuter, we also offer low-cost wellness services, including dental work, vaccines, heartworm prevention and treatment, flea & tick preventatives, and more.

A healthy pet is a happy pet. We help our community by helping the pets of our community through wellness programs and we relieve pet overpopulation through our low-cost spay and neuter program. Volunteers are central to our efforts, volunteers increase our capacity for care and extend our reach.
