CUMALI stands for Chicago Urban Ministries And Life Intervention. This organization works together as a team to aid and serve the most vulnerable on the streets who have established survival outside.

We are looking for a regular volunteer to lead a small team of 3-4 people in assembling meals to be distributed downtown by another group of volunteers. The team leader should know how to cook/reheat basic foods, should have good leaderships skills, and have enthusiasm for working with new people.

The initiative in the kitchen requires preparing, cooking or reheating, and packaging meals to be distributed to individuals who need it the most. The population we serve are members of the community who suffer from debilitating physical conditions and mental health problems who may have given up on shelters and working but nevertheless still need our attention and help. If you are inclined to give back to underserved people and make a powerful impact through a network of good people helping others, this is the place you need to be!

The commitment is Monday afternoons from 2:30-5pm in the kitchen at Church of Our Saviour in Lincoln Park. We would love for you to commit to a month of service at a time and to stay as long as you please, keeping in mind we have a flexible schedule and team.
