313Reads Volunteer Opportunity Description

Title: DIBELS Pre and Post Assessment Administration

Number of Volunteers Needed: 40

About 313Reads:

313Reads is a citywide initiative to support children’s reading skills so that all students are reading at grade level by the end of third grade. Working together, 313Reads partners support third grade reading skills by identifying and sharing powerful solutions that develop children’s knowledge and potential. When children are reading at grade level by third grade, they are considered educationally ready to advance to fourth grade.

This summer, through a partnership between the Skillman Foundation, United Way for Southeastern Michigan, 313Reads, and numerous summer program partners Detroit children will be offered an opportunity to receive language arts tutoring, reading activities, books and a host of other literacy support. Research has shown that providing high quality literacy support over the summer reduces summer learning loss.
