GiGi’s Playhouse Down Syndrome Achievement Center, Westchester is currently looking for literacy and math tutors to join our wonderful dedicated team.
We are looking for volunteers who want to make a difference to our families and are interested in tutoring on a one-on-one basis. You do not need to have an education background as full training and support is provided. We are encouraging virtual tutoring but some tutors can tutor in-person if there is availability.
Our Literacy and Math sessions run for 10-15 weeks (we have three sessions per year), and your total commitment will be about 1.5 hours per week for 10-15 weeks. Flexibility is desirable. Our next session of Literacy and Math begins January 2021.
Spring 2021 Session runs from1/24/2021 to 5/8/2021
Summer 2021 Session runs from 6/13/2021 to 8/21/2021
Fall 2021 Session runs from 9/12/2021 to 12/18/2021
Volunteer requirements:
- Must be 17+
- Attend a one-hour orientation
- Attend one or two trainings
- Once these requirements have been fulfilled, a background check will be required

GiGi's Playhouse Westchester is 98% volunteer led. We provide FREE and purposeful programs to our community from birth to adulthood. The programs that we currently offer are
- 3 and Under (support and playgroup);
- LMNOP (speech therapist led);
- Music and Movement;
- Destination Discovery (Occupational and Physical Therapist led);
- Kids Club (School-aged children)
- Playhouse Pals (school-aged children)
- Teen Tastic (13+)
- Fantastic Friends (adult program)
- Cooking Club
- Yoga
- GiGiFIT Teen
- 1-1 Math Tutoring (session based)
- 1-1 Literacy Tutoring (session based)
