Intern to Executive Director

ORGANIZATION: Midwest HeArt

Good afternoon interested candidates.

Midwest HeArt, is a non-profit, dedicated to welcoming refugees through the universal language of art. Our organization is seeking an intern/volunteer to help grow this organization into helping create a part-time Executive Director position.

In current, the organization is ran by a group of volunteers. Each year we host a January brunch fundraiser and a February art exhibit. The goal is to expand our programming to offer art classes to refugees and host other community events to continue our welcoming initiative.

Throughout this internship you will be assisting the President of the Board of Directors with these various tasks:
  • Grant research and writing
  • Correspondences and communications with potential sponsors/donors
  • Programming communications and coordination
  • Manage the Board of Directors meetings (Last Sunday of each month at 12pm)
  • Partnership communications
  • Social media coordination

Other tasks will be assigned once the position is sustainable for the Executive Director to be the sole operations of Midwest HeArt. The President of the Board of Directors will still assist as needed.

Things to note about this position:

  • The hours will be determined by the intern/volunteer (suggested 10-20 hours weekly may be ideal to execute the main task of getting the position created).
  • Optional office space if needed in downtown Toledo, but can work remotely if preferred.
  • Ideally the Executive Director will have an annual salary and work most of their hours during these months: November-February and August-September. The structure of the organization can be discussed via in person or phone to interested candidates.
  • FYI: This intern/volunteer opportunity is not a guarantee for the Executive Director position if the candidate is not dedicated to sustaining the organization and cannot execute the assigned tasks. Also, the Executive Director position is also not a quick guarantee if the President of the Board of Directors and intern/volunteer are unable to retain the monetary to fund the position.

If anyone is interested in this position; please, contact Liz Mohler, President, at themidwestheart@gmail.com.
