Want to make an impact on the landscape of a Seattle neighborhood for decades to come? Join us for a Saturday afternoon of caring for young street trees in the Beacon Hill neighborhood! These trees may be small and young now, but with some love and care, they will provide healthy canopy for Beacon Hill- which means shade, wildlife habitat, storm water benefits and more! We will be weeding and mulching around each three to help them grow big and strong!

Everyone can help! All ages are welcome and no experience is necessary. We provide all of the tools and training needed. So bring along your friends and family and get your hands dirty!

When: Saturday, June 8th; 12:00pm-3:30pm

Where: Meet at Maplewood Playfield

What to Bring: We’ll provide tools, gloves, instruction, and snacks. Please dress for the weather, wear close-toed shoes and bring a reusable water bottle.

More on the Tree Ambassador Program: Tree Ambassadors are volunteers who help care for Seattle’s trees and make a positive difference in Seattle’s urban forest. Tree Ambassadors help build community and create a culture of caring for our community’s trees.Tree Ambassadors are trained to lead projects that inspire residents to appreciate and care for our trees.

Mission Statement

Forterra's mission is to act with immediacy to protect, enhance and steward our region's most precious resources--its communities and its landscapes. Since 1989, we have been working toward a future in which our children and grandchildren can experience nature in and around our urban environments.

Description

Forterra conserves land by working with individuals, companies and local governments. We strive to maximize the ecological value of land, while meeting the needs of landowners. We may accept land as a donation, purchase it, or transfer it to public ownership. We often serve as a broker to identify and negotiate the most effective ownership to protect important lands. We establish conservation easements to preserve special features. For each and every property, we explore available strategies or create new ones to provide permanent protection. Forterra has established a Conservation Agenda for our region, with specific priorities and methods for each type of landscape. Current initiatives include the protection of working forests on the foothills of the Cascades, and the creation of salmon sanctuaries along our region's highest quality rivers and streams.
