The Indiana Department of Correction is looking for volunteers at facilities throughout the state. We have numerous opportunities to become involved. Below are some examples.

  • Tutoring
  • Mentoring
  • Program facilitation
  • Faith-based services
  • Specialty hobbies - knitting, sewing, woodshop
  • Specific groups - Toastmasters, American Legion, AA/NA/GA
  • Family programming, fatherhood, child care training, etc.
  • Arts - performing, visual, musical, etc.

We are always open to ideas for future programming. The schedule is flexible and so is the time commitment.

Description

As the largest agency in the State of Indiana, the Indiana Department of Correction (IDOC) employees more than 6,400 Hoosiers, supervises almost 10,000 parolees in communities across the state and is responsible for the safety and security of more than 28,000 adults and 450 juveniles inside our correctional facilities.

The IDOC currently operates 21 adult facilities, 3 juvenile facilities and 10 parole districts. Even though the reach is far and wide, each small part of the Department is committed to the main tenets of our mission: to increase public safety and reduce recidivism.
