ORGANIZATION: GIVE SOMEONE A CHANCE (GSAC)

Our mission at Give Someone A Chance (GSAC) is to assist the homeless and unsheltered in Tuolumne County CA. We provide a variety of homeless services: transportation, veterans services, case management, mobile shower bus, and mobile laundry vehicle, to mention a few, here in Tuolumne County. We have a warehouse on 14356 Cuesta Court off of Tuolumne Road where we store all of our supplies and equipment. We restock our shower bus and laundry vehicle once or twice a week before they are deployed. We are looking for volunteers (light duty lifting) for a few hours, to manage our inventory at and restock our supplies. Can you help us once a week or even once a month? You will be indirectly helping hundreds of homeless here in our community. Thank You.

About GIVE SOMEONE A CHANCE (GSAC)

Location:

PO BOX 272, JAMESTOWN, CA 95327, US

Mission Statement

Give Someone A Chance (GSAC) has a mission to bring dignity to individuals in need, and improve the lives of the homeless and marginalized through mobile showers, transportation, and sustainable solutions by means of outreach services. Our core offerings expand access to government and private programs through fact finding and referrals that positively impact the lives of the homeless and, as a consequence, all residents of Tuolumne County.

Description

We know that the most fundamental barrier for the homeless to finding employment is showers and clean clothing. Last year we built a shower bus with two showers (one is ADA) and this year will deploy in our County directly to the homeless locations. Our Shower Bus and Outreach Services are designed to meet people where they are and work with them to obtain long-term stability. The shower bus serves as a beacon to attract the homeless allowing our outreach services to effectively touch a vastly larger population of homeless to identify their needs and refer them to appropriate County, State, and Federal programs. Willing participants can find real solutions in a safe environment for medical and mental health care, social welfare, VA programs and eventually housing opportunities through the GSAC Outreach Center.
