Spanish Speaking Volunteers are being requested. Is that you?
We have several wonderful families taking care of their loved ones, but
needing to work and take kids to school.
If you are Spanish speaking here are 5 simple ways of volunteering for Compassus Hospice.

Once training and basic orientation is completed;
You can visit the patient and do any of the following:

1: visit with the patient. Conversation is often necessary and needful with patients
who are bed bound but still able to communicate and visit.
2: read to the patient. From the Bible, or inspirational readings. Perhaps the newspaper,
sports page, a magazine that the patient may have in the home. Some patients
are not able to read because of physical limitations and reading to them would be
wonderful.
3. Stay with Spanish speaking patient while caregiver or family member is able to go
to store, bank, post office. Relieving the caregiver so they can run errands.
4. Assist the Spanish speaking patient with the nearness of their everyday items. Sometimes
patients are not able to reach their important items. They are bed bound, or they are not
able to communicate what they need near them. Phone, plug ins, brush, food, drinks, etc.
Tend to their personal needs by making their necessities reachable.
5. Straighten up the area of the patient. Often times family, or even nurses are tending
to medical needs, and the basic area just needs a little tending to or organizing.

At Compassus we tend towards making our patients feel significant. That their needs are
important.
Volunteers are a large part of what we do. We appreciate our Volunteers because they are
a compassionate hand that is extended to those who need it the most at a specific time of their life.
