Beaver Tree Painting - Protect Native Trees

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: City of Longmont, Parks & Natural Resources

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.

Beavers provide important ecosystem services in our floodplains. They can be a big help creating and restoring wetlands. Sometimes though, we want to plant native trees to enhance and restore our urban floodplains but protect them from beavers so they can grow to provide a shaded creek corridor for fish or stabilize a bank with their roots. Come help us apply special beaver protection paint to trees in a city nature area. This will be a fun, family-friendly event. Ages 8+. Remember to wear old clothes because the paint does not wash out. Registration is required through City of Longmont's Parks, Open Space, and Trails volunteer portal at https://joinus.longmontcolorado.gov.
