468,000 Families are in need across central and northern Arizona. With your help, we can deliver more. Our Food Reclamation Facility is equal parts community compassion and process engineering. No good food goes to waste. Over 6 million pounds arrive at our warehouse every year, donated by community food drives and generous grocers. All items are cleaned, sorted, and measured against the strictest of quality control standards. From there, it’s sent off to one of our 5 dining rooms, or packed and shipped out to one of our 80 community-based food pantries. Over 400,000 food boxes are delivered through home visits and other charitable organizations. It’s "Love in a Box"!
Duties include but are not limited to: sorting food items into appropriate categories / bins, checking items for quality standards, and cleaning. Some volunteer duties may include lifting up to 40 lbs., and volunteers should be prepared to stand for long periods of time, bend, lift and carry. Closed-toe shoes are required.

Mission Statement
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul has a 2-part mission that is dependent upon YOU! We Feed, Clothe, House, & Heal homeless & low-income individuals and families in our community who are in need of support. We provide meaningful opportunities for volunteers to serve their neighbors in need with love and compassion. Volunteers are 95% of our workforce because we believe this is how our world works best - we all need to work together to create a community that works for all of us.
Description
SVdP has been serving our community throughout central and northern Arizona since 1946.
Programs include:
* Services for the homeless.
* Medical and dental care for the working poor.
* Charity dining rooms that serve thousands each day.
* Food boxes for hungry families.
* Thrift stores throughout the region.
* A bridge housing shelter.
* General assistance for individuals in need.
To begin, we invite you to attend a virtual volunteer orientation. This will give you a sense of our mission and history, and help you figure out the ways to use your passions to best help us accomplish our service to the community. We’ll review the many different volunteer opportunities available (over 25 programs / locations!), and help you figure out where your interests match up and what type of volunteer position will work best for you and your schedule.
