The horticulture project will be held in our Habitat Garden where you will engage in non-native species removal, debris collection, renewal of habitat classroom, and maintenance of adjacent areas to increase public enjoyment of this natural area.

Water, snacks, gloves, tools and materials all provided by Hudson River Park.

Please submit a request on VolunteerMatch to attend and we will follow up separately with a confirmation email. Once confirmed on the roster, we will follow up with more details including meeting location, specific project objectives and any other relevant information if space is available.

About Friends of Hudson River Park

Location:

311 West 43rd Street, Suite 300, New York, NY 10036, US

Mission Statement

Friends of Hudson River Park support the creation and preservation of Hudson River Park, the world class park for everyone that, when completed, will run from 59th Street to the Battery and create a great urban waterfront on Manhattan’s west side.

Embracing the notion that Hudson River Park is, indeed, for everyone, we are active participants in the communities bordering the Park and frequently collaborate with its many stakeholders. We are a strong and constant presence at Community Board meetings, and we frequently seek out environmental and other advocacy groups who share our commitment to completing the Park.

Finally, our programs and events, taking place during the warmer months, are designed to attract visitors to the Park and to build support for Friends’ mission, while involving both surrounding neighborhood and underserved communities throughout New York.

Description

To achieve our mission, we pursue the following goals:

  • Help attain the public and private money needed to complete the Park

At this point, nearly $200 million is needed to complete the Park. If additional funds are not secured, construction could be delayed and sections of the Park could never be completed.

  • Secure park areas identified in the Hudson River Park Act and work with the City and State to eliminate incompatible uses

The Park includes areas that are currently occupied by commercial and municipal operations. We will continue our advocacy efforts to ensure that dedicated park land is not used for other purposes.

  • Build a broad constituency for the Park

We will continue our efforts to engage a large and diverse group of Park users and attract more people to our fundraising mission.
