Union Elementary's reading program is a volunteer
mentor reading program that allows for volunteer mentors
to read individually with a student. This type of learning
the environment helps our students improve reading fluency
and comprehension, vocabulary, and confidence.

No Special training or education background
necessary! Materials are provided.

Although an education-related background is helpful, it is
not necessary. Anyone can be a volunteer mentor if there
is a desire to help our students become successful readers.

Mission Statement

RSVP connects volunteers ages 55 and over with service opportunities in their communities that match their skills and availability

Description

The Retired Senior and Volunteer Program (RSVP) is one of the largest volunteer networks in the nation for people 55 and over. They use the skills and talents learned over the years, and also develop new ones, while serving in a variety of volunteer activities within our communities.

RSVP volunteers choose how, where and how often they want to serve, with commitments ranging from a few hours to 40 hours per week. Volunteers receive pre-service orientation, training from the organization where they will serve and supplemental insurance while on duty.
