Role Description

The Director of HR oversees the development of HR strategies and provides sound advice to Executive and functional Directors on all related subjects. The Director of HR promotes and implements organizational objectives by planning and managing human resources programs; directing staff and volunteers.

  • Develops organization strategies by researching and identifying HR resolutions; establishing short-term and long-term HR objectives in line with organizational objectives.
  • Implements HR strategies by establishing team accountabilities, including volunteer acquisition, succession planning, and volunteer retention.
  • Oversees HR initiatives for coaching and counseling functional leaders; assists with planning, monitoring and reviewing volunteer contributions, productivity, and implementing change.
  • Supports Executive Director and functional leaders by providing human resources advice, counsel, and decisions regarding performance and interpersonal issues.
  • Supervises the work of Volunteer Care team and motivates teamwork to accomplish organizational goals
  • Accomplishes special projects by working collaboratively with functional leaders to motivate volunteers; evaluate and acknowledge milestone accomplishments.
  • Guides management and volunteer actions by developing, and updating policies, procedures, and guidelines; communicating and enforcing organization values.
  • Monitors legal requirements and enforces compliance.
  • Enhances department and organization reputation by exploring opportunities to add value to Rukundo International’s missions

Time Commitment: 5-10 hours a week
Role Commitment: 1 years

  • Proven experience as HR professional
  • Full understanding of organizational operations to meet its objectives
  • Thorough knowledge of HR management principles and best practices
  • Knowledge of data analysis and reporting; experience with MS Office and Google programs preferred
  • Excellent organizational and leadership skills
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Committed to the mission of Rukundo International
  • Ability to work independently with follow through and attention to detail
  • Qualified degree in business preferred
Reporting Structure

This position reports to the Executive Director and collaborates with other functional Directors.
