Heartland Hospice is looking for kind-hearted individuals who would like to make a difference in the lives of our hospice patients and their families. We are especially looking for individuals able and willing to assist us with a few special projects and programs:
*Veteran-to-Veteran Program - Heartland believes that veterans can provide an extra level of companionship and comfort to our patients who have served in the armed forces through shared experiences.
*We Honor Veterans Program - Heartland wishes to thank each of our patients who has served in the armed forces. We do this on Memorial Day and Veterans Day by delivering certificates, pins, and roses to our veteran patients to show our appreciation of the sacrifices they made. We would also like to do this within their first two weeks on service with us and recognize their service to this country. We are looking for volunteers (preferably veterans) who would be interested in being a part of this experience and helping us make these deliveries.
*Vigil Volunteers - Heartland believes no one should ever die alone. With this goal in mind, we have created our vigil volunteer program. These special volunteers sit with our patients in their final hours and ensure they are as comfortable as possible as they pass away.
*Special Projects - Heartland is always looking for ways we can go the extra mile in taking care of our patients and their families in their final days. We understand that not everyone is comfortable visiting a facility or the home of a hospice patient; death can be a scary experience. Special projects are a way for you to give our patients and their families comfort by doing the things you love in your own home. If you like to quilt, crochet, write, cook, or sing, we would love to have you share your talents with our patients. There are so many ways you can help!
Volunteers must be 18 years of age and have reliable transportation. If you have a couple of hours every week to spare, we would love to hear from you! Training will be provided.
Please call 505-323-1464 and speak with Jessica if you are interested in being a part of any of these programs!
