Hello to the best volunteers out there! Spring has sprung, which means it is time for our Spring Fund Drive. This also means it is time for our stapling parties! Please gather 'round, fabulous volunteers, and join us in good conversation, snacks, and a lot of stapling. For those of you who are unfamiliar with our stapling parties, these events are a time in which several volunteers gather together and staple donation ask envelopes to our newspaper. These parties are a huge help with bringing in donations for our organization, and I can't thank those of you who helped during our Winter Fund Drive enough! Please see below for the dates and let me know if you're interested. We're asking that everyone commit to at least two hour shifts each. MAY

  • Thursday, 5/23, 10 AM - 4 PM (urgent: our most pressing date!)
  • Friday, 5/24, 10 AM - 4 PM
JUNE
  • Thursday, 6/13, 10 AM - 4 PM
  • Friday, 6/14, 10 AM - 4 PM
Please let me know if you're able to help out. We appreciate all you do more than you know!

About STREET ROOTS

Location:

211 NW DAVIS ST, PORTLAND, OR 97209, US

Mission Statement

Street Roots creates income opportunities for people experiencing homelessness and poverty by producing a newspaper and other media that are catalysts for individual and social change.

Description

  • Our Vendor Program has more than 160 active vendors that sell Street Roots in the Portland metropolitan area. More than 500 vendors sell the newspaper during the course of a year. Collectively, nearly 35,000 newspapers are sold each month.
  • Our Newspaper delivers in-depth news and commentary on social and economic justice issues important to the entire community. Street Roots is a platform for people on the streets to have a voice in the political and social dialogue, bridging cultural and class divides with a greater understanding on social matters that affect us all.
  • Our Resource Guide is a 4'x 4', 104-page guide and is the most comprehensive, updated list of services for people experiencing homelessness and poverty in Multnomah and Washington counties. More than 160,000 guides are published annually by Street Roots and distributed to more than 400 organizations and and entities working with people experiencing homelessness and poverty in the Portland region.
  • Our Advocacy efforts are related to homelessness and housing in Portland and throughout the state of Oregon and around the United States.
