SoccerWauk is a family-friendly event where we invite our players, their families, and the local community to participate in all things soccer. We have an inflatable soccer field, dunk tank (dunk your coach), prize wheel, a cookout, outdoor games and more. This is in conjunction with Waukegan Main Street's June ArtWauk and PrideWauk.
Need help with: Set-up, maintaining inflatable soccer field, handing out water, manning dunk tank, ticket booth, tear-down

About HEART OF THE CITY
Location:
114 S. Genesee Street, WAUKEGAN, IL 60085, US
Mission Statement
Heart of the City provides an opportunity for youth in the Lake County area to participate in recreational and competitive soccer activities. We believe that all youth should have access to high-quality sports programs and to academic learning opportunities. As a result, we endeavor to teach our players to be competitive on the field, successful in their school and productive in their community.
Description
We believe that sports offer so much more than just the opportunity to play -- they are a powerful path to youth development. Founded by community members in 2014, Heart of the City was formed to address the lack of access to quality youth soccer programs for families in Waukegan, IL and surrounding communities. The charitable organization coupled its existing recreation program with a competitive travel program. The two programs now exist side-by-side, further increasing access to year-round soccer opportunities and the invaluable life lessons that they provide.
Because there are often barriers for kids on the path to higher education, we at Heart of the City seek to support our kids and bridge that gap as much as we can. We believe it is essential that youth are exposed to the resources and academic opportunities that will allow them to create a positive and successful future for themselves. We also have a strong service-based component to our programming, in the hopes that through these volunteer experiences, our kids will be inspired to be lifelong stewards in their communities. Heart of the City serves over 300 families in need in Lake County, Illinois.
