ALIVE! is the charity partner for this event.
15 to 20 volunteers needed to help monitor runners, give out water, etc. Assignments will be handed out at in parking lot of Port City Brewery (3950 Wheeler Ave.) at 8:30am. Volunteers then transport themselves to their assignments on the course. Volunteers who have cars may be assigned to the further locations. Age requirement: 16+.Younger children with parents or supervised groups are welcome to help. Volunteers are invited to the post-walk festivities.
Volunteer registration: 8:30am at 3950 Wheeler Ave - in front of the brewing company. not with runner registration on Eisenhower Ave.
Time commitment: 8:30am - 11:00am.

ALIVE! combines faith and love into action to help struggling Alexandria residents. Founded in 1969 as a grassroots movement led by faith-based organizations and community leaders in response to growing concerns about poverty in their City, ALIVE! is a volunteer-governed 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing emergency and basic needs support to children, families and individuals living in poverty and with hunger in the City of Alexandria. Still celebrating its 50th anniversary milestone, ALIVE! is the oldest and largest private social safety net in the City currently serving thousands of Alexandrians each month, with the support of 45 faith-based member congregations and volunteers.

Currently, a number of ALIVE"s programs are on hold, while others are popping up. This is due to the shutdowns due to the virus. We rely on donations to maintain these programs. Checking our website under the "get involved" tab

ALIVE! (ALexandrians InVolved Ecumenically) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization of volunteers from 45 religious congregations and the community working together to help those in need in Alexandria, Virginia. Founded in 1969, ALIVE! is the largest private safety net for the needy in the city of Alexandria, addressing short-term to long-term needs for those less fortunate in the community. ALIVE! serves over 10,000 Alexandrians annually with shelter; low-cost early childhood education and childcare; financial help for rent, utilities, medical care and other critical needs; emergency food; and deliveries of donated furniture and housewares.
