Background: MovingWorlds is a social enterprise helping professionals volunteer their skills with organizations around the world who are innovatively solving local issues. "Experteering" is the word we coined for skills-based volunteering - the combination of the words expertise + volunteering. It is the act of volunteering your expertise, skills, experience, and time with organizations that need it.
It's been featured in WhyDev, SSIR, Devex, HBR, Forbes, FastCompany, and many more publications as a way to develop new skills and make a real impact!
MovingWorlds has partnered with Siemens Stiftung empowering people. Network to send a web developer all expenses paid to experteer with a social enterprise committed to sustainable energy and healthy cooking alternatives for rural communities in Mexico.
Project Description and Impact:
Our social enterprise develops solar reflectors for cooking as a more sustainable and healthier alternative to communities living in rural areas. Recently, we underwent a structuring process that surfaced a list of obvious gaps we need to address in order to grow and scale.
We're seeking an Experteer to help us develop a marketing and PR strategy that effectively communicates our work, our products, our impact, and facilitates sales and communication activities.
Our ideal candidate would have experience with:
-Social media marketing
-Sales and advertising
Ideally, we're looking for someone who can experteer with us for a minimum of 3 months. Depending on how long you can stay, we hope to accomplish the below by the end of the project:
-Develop a marketing and PR strategy (we're also redeveloping our website and your input for how to design a website that supports this strategy would be helpful)
-Auditing our existing collateral and recommend and redesign the materials based on the above strategy (some translation work from Spanish to English and other languages will be needed)
-Create templates we can use in PR outreaches
-Teach our staff to prepare/modify content to be used on our website and social channels.
The majority of our team speaks Spanish so it would be VERY helpful to have an Experteer with conversational to advance level of Spanish proficiency.
We Provide These Local Benefits:
Accommodations: You will be provided with housing.
Travel Stipend: This project is part of the empowering people. Expert program with Siemens Stiftung. The selected candidate will have international flights, insurance, and visa costs covered.
