Background: MovingWorlds is a social enterprise helping professionals volunteer their skills with organizations around the world who are innovatively solving local issues. "Experteering" is the word we coined for skills-based volunteering - the combination of the words expertise + volunteering. It is the act of volunteering your expertise, skills, experience, and time with organizations that need it.

It's been featured in WhyDev, SSIR, Devex, HBR, Forbes, FastCompany, and many more publications as a way to develop new skills and make a real impact!

MovingWorlds has partnered with Siemens Stiftung empowering people. Network to send a web developer all expenses paid to experteer with a social enterprise committed to sustainable energy and healthy cooking alternatives for rural communities in Mexico.

Project Description and Impact:

Our social enterprise develops solar reflectors for cooking as a more sustainable and healthier alternative to traditional cooking methods for communities living in rural areas. Recently, we underwent a structuring process that surfaced a list of obvious gaps we need to address in order to grow and scale our organization and its impact.

We're seeking a developer to help us design and build a website to help us better communicate our work, our products, and to facilitate sales and communication activities.


Ideally we're looking for someone who can experteer with us for a minimum of 3 months. Depending on how long you can stay, we hope to accomplish the below by the end of the project:

-Analysis of available technology and recommendation which platform we should use to build our website

-Develop a plan of action for building the website, including wireframes and mockups

-Work with and mentor our in-house developer to execute on the plan and, if needed, to continue on the website's develop after your time with us end

Other requirements:

-The majority of our team speaks Spanish so it would be VERY helpful to have an Experteer with conversational to advance level of Spanish proficiency.

Travel Stipend - This project is part of the empowering people. Expert program with Siemens Stiftung. The selected candidate will have his or her international flights covered.

Learning Opportunity - You can learn more spanish here and get in touch with an old culture with its own traditional agricultural system. Learn about scaling a social enterprise and its inner workings with hands-on experience.

Food Stipend - You are welcome to have all meals with us in the community cafeteria.

Additional Benefits - We are in the countryside of Mexico, small villages, direct contact with the native people here, their food, their culture.
