We make sure every volunteer is serving in a place where they can make an impact on the patient experience, directly or indirectly. Volunteer roles at the Good Samaritan Hospital fall into four basic categories as follows:
1)In clinical areas:
- Patient transport, stocking and cleaning
- Patient rounding
- Lab rounds/filing slides
2)At desks:
- Liaison between guests and clinical areas
- Check-in
- Customer service
3)Greeting and Guiding:
- Welcoming and escorting patients and guests throughout the hospital
4)Behind the scenes:
- Clerical, laminating, copying, building paperwork packets, data entry

- We ask that our volunteers give at least 50 hours in a 12 month period.
- Medical requirements include proof of 2 MMR and Varicella vaccinations, two negative TB test results in the past 12 months and during flu season - proof of flu vaccination.
