Key Responsibilities
- Manage the appearance of the Discovery Gallery by making sure all printed materials are out and stocked
- Greet and Check in/out all visitors, staff, members and volunteers, accordingly
- Answer questions posed by Living Lab visitors and Members
- Answer the phone and direct callers appropriately
- Facilitate membership processes such as receiving membership/companion applications, creating badges, and processing payments.
- Print badges
- Sell ODI gear and process payments
- Follow closing procedures at the end of the day
Impact
- Ensure that the Greater City Heights community feels welcome at the Living Lab
- Facilitate exposure to Ocean Science by the community

Description
The programs of Ocean Discovery Institute offer intensive, hands-on learning opportunities for disadvantaged children and youth. Programs are offered throughout the year. The programs employ three basic strategies: classroom and field-based programming in partnership with Title 1 schools, intensive after-school and summer programs, community-based habitat restoration events.

- Commitment • Able to fulfill a 3-hour shift commitment per week • Available hours: 3:00pm-6:00pm on weekdays and 9:00am-2:30pm on Saturdays
- Requirements • A leader who is friendly, outgoing, and welcoming • Ability to exercise good judgement and situational awareness Preferred Qualifications • Able to communicate in a second language • Experience with technology and computers
