Help Remove Non-native Plants on Scenic Conservation Land with Sempervirens Fund!
Who: Sempervirens Fund’s mission is to protect and permanently preserve redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) forests, wildlife habitat, watersheds, and other important natural and scenic features of California’s Santa Cruz Mountains, and to encourage public appreciation and enjoyment of this environment.
What: Work will involve removing French broom, periwinkle, and English ivy along the creek. Participants will pull invasive weeds by hand or using basic hand tools. Work will be moderately strenuous and may take place on sloped and uneven terrain. All tools, gloves, and gear will be provided by Sempervirens Fund, but if you have your own equipment we suggest bringing it along. We recommend wearing long-sleeved shirts, pants, and durable hiking shoes. Please bring your own lunch and plenty of water. Some snacks and beverages will be provided.
Where: The Lompico property is located just east of Loch Lomond Recreation Area and contains the headwaters of Lompico Creek, which is home to steelhead trout. We will meet at the Safeway parking lot in Felton (6221 Graham Hill Rd, Felton, CA 95018) and coordinate carpooling to the property, which is 20 min. north of Felton.

Mission Statement

Description
Sempervirens Fund protects, connects and cares for the local redwood forests between Silicon Valley and the Pacific Ocean - while we open up more ways for people to enjoy them. Since 1900, Sempervirens Fund has permanently protected more than 53 square miles of local redwood forests and watersheds for people, wildlife and future generations. As California’s oldest land trust and the only organization focused entirely on this local redwood forest, Sempervirens Fund works on behalf of the community to re-establish a vast, beautiful, accessible redwood world that provides crucial refuge and recreation in our own backyard.
