Uhuru Furniture and Collectibles

Intern would report directly to the Promotions Coordinator. This is a part-time unpaid position at 8-20 hours per week.
The African People's Education and Defense Fund (APEDF) needs your skills and talents to build Uhuru Furniture and Collectibles in Philadelphia. Be part of the team making lasting changes to impact health, education, human rights and the future of the African community.
This internship would provide real-world skills in engaging with customers on multiple platforms, developing, carrying out and tracking an online marketing strategy. The intern would play a key role in setting up the systems to meet our goals, create content and analyze our results. This is experience that will look great on a resume!
Knowledge, Skills, and Other Characteristics:
- Knowledge of marketing strategy, creating and analyzing marketing data
- Skill designing and creating marketing materials, print or digital
- Organized, punctual, reliable and honest
- Passionate about social justice and economic development for the African community
- Experience working with volunteers is a plus

Uhuru Furniture and Collectibles is a project of the African People's Education and Defense Fund (APEDF). APEDF strives to develop and institutionalize programs to defend the human and civil rights of the African community, and to address the grave disparities in education, health, healthcare, and economic development of the African community.
Uhuru Furniture and Collectibles is a non-profit store that is a fundraiser for black community empowerment programs of APEDF. We receive a truck load of donated furniture and household items every day. This is a lively, popular Philadelphia store staffed mostly by volunteers. When you volunteer at Uhuru Furniture, you not only contribute to the success of the store, you become part of a larger movement for peace through social justice. People shop at Uhuru Furniture for low priced, top quality items and to support crucial programs for social justice for African people.
