Argentium Care Summer Volunteer Opportunities:

Volunteer Transcriber

Argentium Care needs a volunteer to transcribe hand-written documents into MS Word. These are stories written by program participants. The documents should be transcribed as-is, no editing involved. Transcribing would take place at Argentium office, 1123 Emerson St, for two-three hours a week. Volunteer may need to meet with participant(s) for better understanding. This position requires excellent MS Word skills. Applicants must be able to read and decipher script. Ideal for a student or retiree.

Summer Friendly Visitor

Our friendly visitors meet with their senior friend(s) for an hour each week to sit and talk over a cup of coffee or tea, go for a walk, share stories, do a craft or activity, or even enjoy a meal together. Summer friendly visitors would need to commit to two-three months and visit up to five seniors, in a conveniently located community for the volunteer. The volunteer and the senior will decide the best day and time to visit each week.

Summer Friendly Caller

Friendly Caller volunteers reach out to isolated older adults, via phone calls, to help alleviate loneliness and isolation by providing personal connection, and to provide information on community resources as appropriate. Volunteers will call the same adults every week, so consistent attendance is a must. Training and a standardized script is provided and calls are generally kept to 10 minutes. Volunteers are expected to write clear notes about calls, particularly about issues that may arise, any referrals given, and to always follow up on any previously discussed issues in the next call. Time commitment is 1-2 hours a week for a total of 8 hours a month. Callers must be atleast 18 years.

Volunteers must be atleast 18 years old and pass a background check. If you are interested in applying, visit For more information, please contact us at or call at 847.869.0682.
