Ascend Hospice is looking for kind and caring people to help terminally ill patients and their families - just by being there. Many of our patients live at home with family members or friends who rarely get the opportunity to leave the house or nursing facility because they are devoted to caring for their ill loved ones. Relief care (sitting with a patient while the caregiver takes a break) is one of our biggest volunteer needs. For caregivers to have the opportunity to run an errand, go see a movie, go to a doctor’s appointment or go on an outing can work wonders to renew their energy and better equip them for the responsibilities of care-giving.

Volunteer orientation is provided free of charge to help you learn the skills required to be an outstanding hospice volunteer. Time and dates are ongoing and flexible. We are especially looking for volunteers who would be available during daytime, weekday hours but weekends or evenings are also helpful.

Founded in 1995, Ascend Hospice is a nondenominational, multicultural hospice and palliative care provider built on the belief that hospice services should reflect the life we live - one lived fully and with dignity. With offices in New Jersey, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Kansas, Missouri, California and Virginia, the company currently provides care for approximately 850 patients in nursing homes, assisted-living facilities, hospitals and private homes. Dedicated to a holistic approach, Ascend Hospice’s expert interdisciplinary teams provide state-of-the art hospice care, including pain control and symptom management through holistic and traditional therapies, as well as emotional support for patients and families.
