Youth-Led Business Seeks Dynamic Mentors

ORGANIZATION: Youth Services Inc.

Demographix needs adult mentors!

Are you a compassionate person with a fun sense of a humor?
Are you a good listener who's interested in working with fabulous adolescents?
Do you have four hours a month to spend with those fabulous adolescents?

Then we want to hear from you! Do you also have art or business experience, or both? Then we really want to hear from you!

Never been a mentor? That's okay. We'll train you! We'll also teach you to screen print and give you access to the shop so you can print your own designs!

Demographix, the first youth-led business (YLB) in the Youth Services workforce development program, is a screen printing operation located in downtown Brattleboro for youth aged 12-24.

The program includes a mentoring component for all youth who are younger than 18 when they enroll. That's where you come in.

This is a new program for Youth Services. The program staff and community mentors are working closely with the youth to build the entire business from the ground up. This includes everything from establishing employment policies and procedures to learning how to screen print on fabric.

Business meetings and production sessions occur at Brattleboro Printmakers on Elliot Street in Brattleboro. The shop is a membership-based facility with a range of equipment for artistic and commercial printmaking and screen printing.

Does this sound like something for you? Would you like to mentor a curious, creative adolescent and help them develop the skills they need to thrive? Then please contact Wendy M. Levy, the Youth-Led Business Employment Coordinator, at (802) 257-0361 x.160 or wendy.levy@youthservicesinc. org.
