Rescue farm maintenance

ORGANIZATION: Five Freedoms Farm

  • 2 people are interested

We run a small farm sanctuary in Loganville and would like some help in keeping up with the mowing and weed whacking around the property (3.2 acres). We have a riding mower and a weed eater. We work full-time in addition to running the sanctuary, so finding time to keep up with this is challenging every summer. We are hoping that someone local would be interested in contributing to the maintenance of the property where we have rescued dogs, cats, pigs, and mini horses. Ideally, every 2 weeks would be a great help throughout the summer, but we'll take any help we can get!
Time frame is very flexible as far as what time of day you'd like to do the work. As long as we know when you're coming, we can situate the animals so you can work around them and have the equipment out and ready.
This video shows some high school students volunteering at our farm recently and helps to give you an idea of the property: https://youtu.be/WfvJKj2-6h8
Thank you for considering!

About Five Freedoms Farm

Location:

398 Ridge Road, Clarkesville, GA 30523, US

Mission Statement

to care for animals in need in a place that strengthens the Deaf community through its exploration of DeafSpace, entrepreneurship, art, community building, leadership, research and education.

Description

Five Freedoms Farm, also known as F3, is an ambitious endeavor that keeps animal rescue at the center of what we do and further incorporates community development, social entrepreneurship, environmental sustainability, and service learning. What sets us apart from other sanctuaries is that we partner with the Deaf community. We are both sign language interpreters: Nancy was raised by Deaf parents and is a native signer; Jessie has been a part of the community both professionally and personally since 1995. We both feel humbled by our connection to this beautiful and vibrant community. We want to celebrate Deaf-World and use our farm to show the broader community that being Deaf is not a deficit, but a unique and valuable way of living in the world. Our animal sanctuary will save the lives of animals in need while simultaneously increasing the cultural wealth of the Deaf community. We aim to become a vehicle that propels the passions of young Deaf animal-lovers, scholars, entrepreneurs, educators, leaders, and change-makers ... all by way of activities and programs around animal rescue, care, and adoption.
