We are in need of van drivers to drive our 15 passenger vans and co-pilots to pick up children for our evening program Monday-Thursday. We have openings for each night of the week for a van driver and can be flexible with your schedule.
On Mondays and Wednesdays, we serve 1st grade through 6th grade and Tuesdays and Thursdays we serve 7th through 12th grade.
The Volunteer Position: Someone to drive our 15 passenger van to pick kids up and drop them off after programming.
Commitment: At least one evening per week.
An overview of our program:
Each night, our doors open at 5:00. The children play on the playground (weather permitting), watch movies, draw, etc., until dinner is served around 5:45. Every night the kids are with us, we serve them a hot meal. After dinner, the kids head to Chapel for worship and a light lesson. Afterwards, they head to age-appropriate classrooms for expounding on the chapel lesson. We provide the curriculum and related supplies for each night. At the end of the night, each child leaves with a kid-friendly food bag to keep them fed while they are not with us.
Rock House Kids is an ongoing year-round program. We ask for at least a year-long commitment.
Choose the day(s) of the week that best works for you! We have a great time with these precious, hungry and hurting children. We need volunteers that will faithfully support the evening programs by following the curriculum that is set forth for each day programming is available.
An application can be mailed, filled out at our office, or online at https://rockhousekids.org/program-volunteers/
A background check is required for anyone working with our kids.
If you have any questions, please call our office.

Description
Rock House Kids is a faith-based ministry that provides free evening program for children from 1st grade through 12th grade. Our programming runs Monday through Thursday from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. On Mondays and Wednesdays we serve 1st through 6th grade, and Tuesdays and Thursdays we serve 7th through 12th grade.
During our evening program we serve hot meals each night, and enjoy music and instructional time. The program is led by compassionate, adult volunteers who teach basic life skills, encourage the kids to do their best in school, and develop positive goals for their futures. Some of the topics taught are manners, self-respect, and gang violence and prevention.
At the end of each evening, the children leave with a bag of kid-friendly, non-perishable food items to sustain their hunger. Throughout the year we provide the children with basic life essentials such as winter coats, shoes, boots, socks, underwear, personal hygiene products, hats and gloves, blankets and a pillow, school supplies, flashlights, and even birthday and Christmas presents.
