ORGANIZATION: Rocky Mountain House Rabbit Rescue (formerly Colorado House Rabbit Society)

When people volunteer with our rescue, they need orientation--someone to explain what we're about and for those who will be working in our Bunny Barn, a tour of it, indicating where things are located, how they are to be used and stored, etc.

The orientation person will schedule a time one Saturday and one Sunday a month to do orientations. Each one takes 2 hours or less. The person also needs to spend a few minutes each day on their own computer to see it there are new volunteers needing to be scheduled for orientation, and getting them scheduled.

Everything is completely documented, so although the person doing orientation will be trained, they will have documentation to check if they need it.

Mission Statement

Rocky Mountain House Rabbit Rescue is a non-profit, 501(c)(3), rescue and educational organization. We rescue, rehabilitate, and find loving forever homes for abandoned house rabbits. We also support local rabbit parents by providing education on these often misunderstood animals and their proper care, and offering expert support for any physical or behavioral challenges that may come up.

Description

Rocky Mountain House Rabbit Rescue (formerly Colorado House Rabbit Society) is licensed by the House-Rabbit Society International Headquarters. We are a 100% volunteer-drive organization, made up of a diverse group of over 200 bunny lovers.

Our shelter is home to around 80 rabbits at any given time, each of which has been rescued from dire circumstances. Once they arrive at our shelter, every bunny is given a thorough medical examination, and provided with whatever expert care is required to help them recover from physical and emotional wounds. Once they are neutered or spayed, restored to health, and litterbox trained, we begin the search for the perfect loving forever home for each bunny (due to their strong need for social connection, bunnies are only adopted out as pairs, or as singles to be paired with a bunny already in the home).

We believe that every-bunny deserves a second chance, and are therefore a no-kill shelter. Each bunny receives compassionate and loving care for as long as it takes for their new human to find them. Our concern for the bunnies also extends beyond the adoption - we provide education on proper rabbit care for all adopters, 24/7 expert advice on bunny health and behavior for rabbit parents, and educational programs for local community groups.

We are a diverse community with one thing in common - we are all committed to helping rabbits and the people who love them. We welcome anyone who is interested in joining our community in this important work!
