Mission or Broader Program Description: The mission of Heaven on Earth is to improve quality of life for homeless cats, particularly those who have few other options or who may be overlooked because of low potential for adoption.
Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities: Heaven on Earth Society for Animals is looking for some awesome volunteers to help with outreach for our SpayShip Transport Program! As a SpayShip volunteer, you provide support to a program that has facilitated the spay or neuter of more than 6,000 cats and kittens since it began in 2009. SpayShip volunteers also help periodically with tabling events, passing out flyers and talking with the public about the SpayShip program in particular and the importance of spaying and neutering in general. Canvassing is done in pairs. You will never be asked to canvas alone. Our goal is to reach out to as many people as possible and get as many cats spayed or neutered as we possibly can to help make Los Angeles a No Kill city! SpayShip is free to the public program.
Requirements: SpayShip volunteers meet on Saturdays for community outreach aimed at spreading the word about this free transport service, focusing particularly on neighborhood canvassing in targeted areas of the San Fernando Valley.

OUR MISSION
Founded in 1991, our mission consists of three principal pillars:
- INCREASE volunteer participation in community service projects;
- PROVIDE our nonprofit partners with access to volunteer labor and other RESOURCES; and
- EDUCATE and encourage people to engage in the broader social issues affecting the greater Los Angeles Community.
Tens of thousands of committed volunteers together with thousands of civic, nonprofit, and business partners have enabled L.A. Works to make a significant, visible, and lasting contribution to Los Angeles.
Since 1991, L.A. Works has mobilized and led volunteers to contribute over a million hours to Los Angeles through unique volunteer programming, which has included:
- Serving meals and preparing emergency food provisions for over 425,000 homeless and low-income individuals;
- Providing educational and enrichment activities for over 65,000 disadvantaged youth;
- Revitalizing schools, parks, and community centers for more than 200,000 volunteer hours;
- Offering companionship to seniors and friendship to abused and homeless women for more than 20,000 volunteer hours;
- Conserving, cleaning, and restoring urban and natural environments in and around Los Angeles for more than 75,000 volunteer hours;
- Caring for animals in shelters and sanctuaries at over 1,200 volunteer projects; and
- Training more than 900 Angelenos in the project and volunteer management.
