Are you looking for the chance to make a difference, particularly in the field of mental health and suicide prevention?

If so, this internship might be the right fit for you! Breaking Taboo is looking for new interns for our minimum six-month internship positions! In particular, we are currently looking for people excited to help with fundraising and possible various other tasks that help our nonprofit's growth and mission!

**Firstly, you MUST be able to dedicate at least 20 hours per week and 6 months minimum. If you have any doubts about this, or are anticipating that your schedule might fill up, please DO NOT apply.** If you can make the commitment, please read on.

Breaking Taboo interns and volunteers must all possess:

1. A dedication to break the taboo surrounding mental health and suicide.

2. The enthusiasm to make a difference.

3. The capacity to make a minimum 6-month, 20 hours a week commitment.

4. Willingness to engage in weekly communication with our founder, including weekly conference calls with her and other team members.

5. Willingness to learn and help with various assignments in the nonprofit world including fundraising and outreach.

Ideally, we are looking for a candidate that:

1) has a passion for the below fields:

  • Psychology/ Mental Health/ Suicide Prevention
  • Outreach/ Communications
  • Filmmaking/ Media
  • Social Media
  • Fundraising
  • Nonprofit Organizations!

Please note that this is an unpaid, Volunteer position. A willingness to commit to a minimum of 6 months to the position is KEY. You will need to commit your time and energy for that length of time.

-We are a non-profit Mental Health & Suicide Prevention organization that works in the entertainment industry of Hollywood, California. We are creating educational content dedicated to Saving Lives and bringing about Mental Health Awareness while promoting a positive Social Change.

-We have a passionate team full of positive energy and enthusiasm for the cause, and we are looking for similar candidates to have on board!

*This is a virtual position, so transportation will not be necessary. However, weekly phone conferences and ongoing communication via email, text, or phone are required.

* You will be working directly with our founder, and with other members on the team including the social media team and the fundraising team.

* We will at times give you material to post, while at other times, you will be responsible for your own postings using your own vision & judgments.

*Must be a reliable, professional, and proactive with a team spirit. We will have check ins and conversations, but you must be proactive and able to work on your own.

FUNDRAISING DUTIES:

Potential Responsibilities

--- Research and help write up proposals, sponsorships, scholarships and/or grants on an as needed basis

--- And/or drive constant and significant traffic to our campaigns

--- Raise funds and donations

--- Possible additional commissional work at red carpet events to raise funds

--- Will be working closely with the founder

Though social media marketing is priority, it would help if the following description fits you!

What we are looking for:

  • Someone to raise funds for our organization through a variety of methods, including sponserships, grant writing, and overseeing our crowd-funding campaign. (TBD based on your own level of proficiency in grammer skills, writing or online, social media, etc)
  • Willingness to work with others, and to communicate with our founder and other team members on a regular basis. We want team players.
  • Proactive and goal driven, dedicated to making or exceeding our goal.
  • Maintain and promote the campaign/ cause on a daily basis.
  • Above adequate grammar skills, word comprehension, verbal skills, and great comprehension of linguistics.
  • Implementation of basic modern day technology such as video uploads and driving traffic.
  • Ability to be proactive without needing to be micromanaged. That means we can trust you to manage your own time and complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Someone who can take direction, and also has their own creative ideas. (We value everyone’s input on the team and like to foster a collaborative experience!)
  • Eagerness to learn and implement skillsets. This is an internship, and the point is for you to learn and gain experience!

One of our previous interns has described her time with us as a " positive life changing experience." We guarantee you will learn and experience a lot from this internship-- but as with anything in life, you get what you put in.

We utilize a variety of platforms in order to promote mental health awareness and mental well being. We provide much needed education to the public about suicide prevention, suicide resources, inspirational stories, and debunking the myths associated with suicide while promoting useful facts.
We love working with and promoting artists and ambassadors for mental health awareness.
We work in the film industry and produce motion picture educational content , including documentaries.
We are looking for anyone with a passion for this cause and would like to help us promote awareness and save lives!
