Volunteers can be 11 and above; however, anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult.Thank you for understanding!
Arrange a 2-hour window with the organization's coordinator on when to come in to help sweep/brush dirty fleece liners, re-fill water bottles, re-fill food bowls, cut up and serve vegetables, distribute hay to cages, and sweep floors. Some days, dirty fleece will have to be taken up, brushed off, and new fleece will be put down in cages. At the end of it all, volunteers socialize with the piggies by holding them on the "cuddle" couch in the Center!

Mission Statement
This non-profit organization is dedicated to the rescue, adoption, education and rehabilitation of abandoned and surrendered guinea pigs in the South Central Texas region. Small animals are not covered under the Humane Society umbrella of care so this is a one-of-a-kind but necessary rescue. Online donations help support the work of this facility and volunteers are the backbone of it. The Center is also a sanctuary home to non-adoptable guinea pigs, and also serves owned piggies with free well-checks, nail trims, and boarding.
Description
This organization began in one woman's home. After amassing fifty guinea pigs, she was forced to find other means of support and housing. Since 2012, over 900 animals have been taken in and 800 guinea pigs have been adopted out. There are currently over 120 residents in house, most being victims of abandonment or surrendered by owners. The Rescue cares for guinea pigs until they can find forever homes. The Rescue also holds an outreach program, hosting San Antonio Cavy Club meetings monthly, holding adoption events every Saturday, celebration events through the year, and until recently, a foster classroom program in place for schools.
