Silverado Hospice Bay Area is looking for the right person to volunteer with one of our hospice patients. The person that we are looking for is kind and patient and can spare an hour or two a week for between six months and a year. We will train you and support you through this journey and we will make every effort to match you with a patient where you get back from them as much as you are giving. We think people that are willing to volunteer are special and we do everything we can to provide you with a rewarding experience. If you have questions, send us an e-mail and our Volunteer Manager will e-mal or call.

Mission Statement

Silverado Hospice’s mission is to affirm the cycle of life by enhancing the quality of living for those at the end of life. The Silverado standard is to care compassionately for patients and their families and to empower those we serve to have quality of life options that afford them comfort and dignity.

*We serve San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties*

Silverado Hospice honors the value of each life by empowering the patient and family to make supported choices in end-of-life care, enhancing comfort, relieving suffering and supporting effective grieving.

We believe that Silverado Hospice patients have the right to continue life to the fullest extent possible according to their circumstances, and in fostering opportunities for growth and fulfillment. We further recognize a patient and their family’s decision-making rights in relation to continuing medical treatments as well as their right to withdraw treatment when its benefits are outweighed by their burdens.

At Silverado Hospice, we provide our staff with a well-organized, positive and motivating work environment that promotes their independence and decision-making at the lowest level practical. We value their input and provide them with extensive staff training and a competitive compensation package.

A maximum effectiveness and efficiency of services is maintained by staying on the leading edge of new research findings, participating with ongoing research projects, focusing on disease prevention and chronic disease management. Furthermore, Silverado will continuously develop new and innovative systems and techniques to prolong its patients’ ability to live a dignified life, relate to their family and meet the needs of our referral parties and staff by providing the highest quality cost-effective services to our patients on a day-to-day basis
