Lesson volunteers trained in horsehandling may be invited to be horsecare volunteers. These volunteers are responsible for the daily care of our equine staff, including feeding, moving horses to and from paddocks and pastures, and "mucking stalls." Morning and evening volunteer hours are available. Horsecare volunteers get the privilege of spending individual time with our very special equine staff! Horsecare volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

From the Ground Up Therapeutic Horsemanship, Inc. (FTGU) offers Equine-Assisted Activities and Therapies (EAAT) to persons of all abilities, life challenges and stages. The intuitive and accepting nature of the horse, as well as its movement, motivates participants to achieve physical, cognitive, emotional, social and educational goals. The horses’ size instills confidence, mutual respect and trust in all who partner with them on the ground or in the saddle. It is our mission to facilitate all that is possible through this partnership. Our Vision From the Ground Up Therapeutic Horsemanship, Inc. will offer excellence in Equine-Assisted Activities and Therapies with emphasis on safety, quality and professionalism. From The Ground Up will lead community education in EAAT through increased programming, educational workshops, higher education, research and service learning. Through the power of the horse we will improve the lives of our participants, families and community.
