Camp Bluebonnet is a week-long day camp for children and teens with type 1 diabetes. We serve campers entering 1st grade through high school. It will be held again June 2022 at Peaceable Kingdom Retreat.
Expertise in managing type 1 diabetes is not a requirement. Training and support will be provided.
This provides a great opportunity for nurses, medical or nursing students, and undergraduate students interested in a career in medicine among others.

Mission Statement
To provide a camp for children with diabetes and their siblings where they can be just like everyone else while learning to manage and live with the disease.
Description
We provide a one week day camp each year where the children can have a camp experience just like their friends without having to worry about their diabetes while they are there. The siblings learn how to take care of their sibling with diabetes as well as how to deal with the feelings that it sometimes seems like their sibling gets all of the attention. Last year we served 185 campers.
