Treasurer Job Description
Summary of Job Description
The Shire Community Space Treasurer ensures that committees are putting together budgets are for events, maintains contact with the paid accountant, provides direction for the finance committee, provides regular reports to the Board, ensures all receipts are received and inventoried and all ledgers are balanced at least weekly
Duties
Chairs the Finance Committee
Attends all Board and Finance Committee Meetings
Conducts monthly receipt reconciliation
Ensures all reimbursements are made within a month
Balances all ledgers on a weekly basis
Collects and counts all monies from donations and events
Updates donor list each at least monthly
Ensure donor list is communicated to fundraising chair and marketing chair for thank yous
Maintain regular contact with bookkeeper
Make sure to get and review financial reports prior to board meeting
Ensure all receipts are properly accounted, scanned and inventoried
Pays one-time and recurring bills, keeps a list of bills
Note: The Treasurer will oversee the Finance Committee and many of the above duties can be delegated to other members of the Committee.
Note: Treasurer duties typically require an average of about 5 hours per week.
Required Experience
At least one year working as a treasurer in some capacity
Interest in working in a nonprofit environment
Associates degree
Preferred Experience
Professional training as a treasurer for any nonprofit organization or as an accountant or CPA
Experience in accounting, finance, or business related field
4 years working in a nonprofit environment or as a CPA or accountant
Using accounting software
Additional Requirements
Is available all second Sundays (for monthly board meetings) and is available for at least two monthly committee meetings, usually during the evening on a week night.

Description
The Shire will be an all-ages community space located in downtown Modesto that is comprised of a live performance and workshop space, art gallery, and café. We will provide members of our community the opportunity to engage in a wide range of experiences including concerts, art exhibitions, film screenings, food and drink, classes, meet-up groups, and other community gatherings designed to encourage creative interaction.
