No Closed Roads Inc. is a nonprofit organization that offers affordable tutoring and college prep services to students K-12. Here at No Closed Roads, we are driven by a single goal; to do our part in helping every child have the best chances at success.
With the pandemic, we have had to stop our in-person tutoring sessions for the safety of our tutors and students. We are now trying to transition to an online platform that can have just as much as an impact. We would love for you to join our team and help us build an online tutoring platform that will help underserved communities gain access to essential educational resources.
As a web/software developer, you will write code to directly impact the way students and tutors engage and collaborate with each other in real-time, providing tools to help close the achievement gap that persists in schools across the country. Seasoned developers and student coders alike are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities
- Build an online tutoring platform and app that can be used to connect students and tutors in realtime.
- Implement features for real time communication such as interactive whiteboarding, volunteer scheduling, document collaboration, and video archives.
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience with web app development in JavaScript
- Comfortable working autonomously with minimal instruction
- Self-motivated to complete tasks and learn
- Ability to reliably contribute and coordinate among other developers
- Live projects or code samples on Github required
