Special Olympics Kansas Health and Fitness Performance Station
ORGANIZATION: Special Olympics Kansas
Please visit the new page to apply.
Performance Stations is an event held near the field of play at the Special Olympics Kansas Summer Games that prepares athletes to compete to their personal best and make the connection between fitness and athletic performance. Athletes complete a competition readiness assessment and are provided items and guidance for optional sport performance.
Performance Stations also provide an excellent opportunity for volunteer activation, giving more people a chance to connect with Special Olympics. Volunteers will range from professionals in fitness-related fields to students, to local sports stars/teams, to the general population.
- Fitness professionals (i.e. dieticians, exercise professionals) will lead the competition readiness and fitness stations and/or provide guidance on local fitness opportunities.
- Students in fitness-related majors can support the fitness professionals in the competition readiness and fitness stations.
- Sports stars will take pictures with athletes
- The general volunteers can guide participants through the performance stations, hand out the giveaways, assist with the pledge and take pictures
These events will remind both participants and volunteers that physical fitness is an important part of the mission of Special Olympics.
