One of the biggest roadblocks to cancer treatment can be lack of transportation. Family and friends may help, but over the course of several months, they may not always have the time or resources to provide every ride. That’s why a successful transportation assistance program in the Birmingham area can be a tremendous asset. The American Cancer Society’s Road To Recovery Program (r) is at the very heart of removing the barrier of transportation for cancer patients. The best treatment can’t work if the patient can’t get there. Drivers need:
- A good driving record
- A current driver’s license
- Proof of adequate automobile insurance
- Access to a safe and reliable vehicle
- Access to a regular computer desktop, laptop, or tablet
